Choosing the right Action Type

Dexr uses plug-n-play logic components called 'Actions'. Every action defines the exact interactions you expect your learner to do with the world in this specific step. You can consider actions as tests, i.e. what am I testing my learner on in this step.

Use Item

Correctly apply one item on another - In the example, the correct drill bit on the drill head

Set State

What "state" of this asset is correct to proceed - In this example, opening the lid to reach the inner workings for the next step.

Question and Answer

You can have multiple or single answers as the solution

Highlight objects

Which object is the right one(s)? In this example, what gloves to we need to wear in the hospital.

Move to location

Where does this object need to be? Where not? In this example, move the bed firmly against the wall so it's out of the way.

Taking Measurements

Which measurements are important to take? In this example, the correct solution is all 4 since we need to check the heating flow in the radiator.

Action type	Meaning	Example
Set the correct State	Test if an object is in the correct state when confirming the step. States are defined in an asset and are activated based on user input. E.g. to be able to turn a know in 5 increments means there are 5 states on the radiator asset.	Turning the knob of the radiator all the way open to setting 5 and not another setting.
Highlight the correct objects	A spatial quiz where learners have to highlight the right objects based on your question. Similar to a simple Q&A but with 3D objects.	Highlighting which objects are classified as PPE gear.
Move an object to a specific location	Test if an object is moved to the right position.	Putting your measuring tool back in it's designated place in your bag and not on the floor.
Use the correct objects	Test if the correct object is being held & applied to a specific part before going to the next step. Similar to "highlight" but put in practice.	Applying the right tool to open the radiator pressure valve.
Measure at certain locations	Test if all measurements are taken before continuuing.	Measuring the heat on all different parts of the radiator to test the flow.
Select the right answer	A simple question and answer quiz	Asking the question: "Do you have to turn the boiler back on before or after regulating the radiator pressure?"
Speak the right answer	In a conversation, choose a dialog option	Giving possible answers to an npc asking a question
